To help those in need through providing free legal advice and assistance to people who would otherwise be unable to afford such advice.

We address family, employment, housing, financial and any other issue that affects the well-being of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
About Distress Support Foundation
The Distress Support Foundation supplies advice and assistance in all areas of the Legal System of England and Wales. This may involve:

-
face to face whereby we give advice, information and guidance to help those with difficulties including, but not limited to, housing problems, financial problems, wills and probate, family issues, employment issues and accidents. We will assess their problems and agree with them the best course of action to follow to achieve the best outcome within the legal system.
-
group sessions whereby we educate people on areas of the law such as wills and probate, family law, estate law, employment law and compensation. These are often run through another charity, bringing in local people who they have identified as having needs in the area. The sessions are bespoke to their requirements to promote and advance the advice and assistance as required.

About Donations
We would respond to any request from an individual for support and assess their requirements for support, information and advice as well as their financial circumstances. If we can give immediate advice on a simple issue, and there is no further need identified, we do that. If it is clearly evidenced through the assessment that there is a need that requires further assistance, and we are able to provide that, the assessor will make a judgement and make the appropriate offer of support.
If the assessor does not believe that the individual is in financial hardship or there is a need that is beyond the remit of the charity, they may refer them to other providers.
If we receive a request from another charity or organisation for support, we would look to support them unless we have good reason to not offer our services i.e. they are looking to find ways to circumvent the legal system or could cause harm to the charity by association.
We will only ever accept donations that come without conditions. Where new, larger donors and gift aid donors, who we do not know, offer support, we will check their identity through other known contacts and using online methods.
We will undertake paid advice work from individuals, organisations or companies that is in line with our objects and can help raise funds to support the costs of our free advice work.
